Welcome Back!
One Thing
NCEO’s new book on employee ownership trusts is out! Get your copy here.
What We’ve Been Writing
Not a thing. We’ve been convening instead. Watch this space!
What We’ve Been Reading
Not much (see above), but here’s an ImpactAlpha article on employee leveraged buyouts and employe ownership trusts.
Illinois is one step closer to passing legislation enabling virtuous trusts, their version of Oregon’s stewardship trusts, which legally power employee ownership trusts and perpetual purpose trusts, which might perhaps be called employee-centered trusts and purpose-centered trusts, or maybe business purpose trusts. Clear as mud, as my dad would say?
What’s Next
The Ohio Center for Employee Ownership hosts its 38th (!) conference next week.
NCEO’s next EOT Peer Gathering is May 8th.
In Case You Missed It
We still think our Rethinking Ownership: Putting Purpose at the Center article in the Harvard Social Impact Review is worth a read, even if it has one tiny typo.
We recently came across this Fieldfisher article about what may have been the first EOT in the US, in 2014.
