In September 2023, Susan Gary published The Changing Landscape of Business Succession: How and Why Purpose Trusts Matter. It is a careful, detailed look at where perpetual purpose trusts came from, what they are, and where they’re headed.
In early 2022, our friends at Common Trust, which emerged from the Purpose Foundation, published Exiting to Employees Through Ownership Trusts, which you can access under the “Want to Learn More?” section on their homepage.
In late 2019, Purpose and RSF Social Finance published the results of sixty interviews, a report titled The State of Alternative Ownership in the US: Emerging Trends in Steward Ownership and Alternative Financing. Its observations remain just as relevant four years later.
