Coming to Texas Next Month: The NCEO Fall Forum
An employee ownership conference in... Houston‽‽
In brief:
The National Center for Employee Ownership is the largest employee ownership advocacy organization in the US. Their annual Fall Forum is in Houston next month.
The background:
The NCEO has supported the expansion of employee ownership, and in particular employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs), since 1981.
Texas ranks third among states in ESOP ownership, behind California and New York.
(Meanwhile, the USFWC and DAWI are the NCEO’s counterparts for supporting worker cooperatives, another form of employee ownership.)
What to expect:
The gathering will be mostly about and for companies with ESOPs. But wait there’s more!
The agenda also features Joe Nussbaum, the former owner of ACP International. ACP is Texas’s only employee ownership trust. Joe was also a panelist at an EO+WD event at SMU in the spring.
To no one’s surprise, I’m also curious about this session, which sounds suspiciously like workplace democracy:
Lastly, keep an eye out for an announcement from the Texas Center for Employee Ownership, which may host an event.
TXCEO is part of the Employee Ownership Expansion Network, another initiative of NCEO designed to promote all forms of employee ownership.
EOX’s executive director Steve Storkan was a guest at our spring event, too.
